OHP Radio presents John Ledyard - History Podcast
He was 10 feet tall, could run faster, walk further, swim deeper, climb higher than any man alive now or has ever been. He sailed the seven seas, explored unknown regions, walked across most of the world and met the famous and native alike. A pre-curser and idol to Lewis and Clark, a native of Connecticut and probably the most fearless explorer of all time - John Ledyard.
In the next couple of weeks we will explore John Ledyard through an 1828 book by Jared Sparks. The book is biographical sketch on John Ledyard drawing from his journals and letters. This is a one and only production of its kind, brought to you by Our History Project Productions
This episode:
The Preface and Chapter One: We learn about John beginnings, his home and family. We also look in to the spirit of knowledge, comedy, and bizarre acts that made this man who he was and where he started. This is a character I have wanted to something on and when I found a copy of the book I could not resist. I am no professional reader by any means, but I wanted to try something new here at OHP a chance for you to learn along with me. What you hear, is as far as I go in any given week. Leaving the week to google the people that surrounds John and to explore his life as I go.

History Podcast - The Pig War - Glenn Harbour
Our History Project is proud to bring you yet another piece of lost history. Glenn Harbour joins us today to talk about the forgotten and little known: ”Pig War”. An action, which almost caused an international incident at the beginning of an uncertain time just prior to the outbreak of the War Between the States (1859). This was an interesting story and the theories, what if’s and conspiracies could have really ran rampant on this one. I think that is one reason that makes this fun. You can contact Glenn at miliebetea@yahoo.com .

OHPRadio - Harlow Unger - James Monroe -The last founding father
In this powerful new biography award-winning author Harlow Giles Unger reveals the epic story of James Monroe-the last of America’s Founding Fathers, who transformed a small fragile nation beset by enemies into a glorious and powerful empire stretching “from sea to shining sea.”
This was a great story you don't want to miss. This interview is filled with topic of history that as rarely been explored. Guaranteed an hour that will fly by.
This is also a show to burn to a disk and hand to an educator, don't rely on go to this site and listen - hand it to them. This is a great extra credit show that will give substance to our founding and a man that is little explored in history.

Tell Us A Story
In this episode the Publisher of American Digger Magazine and Author of several books tells us what we should know about submissions, content and the do’s and don’ts of the writing industry. In essence this is not only what he looks for but every print publication looks for. This is one of those shows that is for any and everyone so pass it around.
It also brings up again the question: Should you write? I’m at fault here as well. I spend a lot of time researching but not a lot of time writing, but think about this – What are you finding in the field? Who was there? Why are you looking for this stuff in the first place? And the questions go on and on. Let us preserve this history with a little story.

OHP RADIO - Captain Dale Dye
Also, starting this week you can purchase HQ copies of the show. The cost is $5 per CD. A $2 shipping charge will apply but only to one of them - so you can order 50 copies and still only be $2 shipping. AND, YES - IT'S TAX DEDUCTABLE!
All shows will still remain free online (no change there). All the shows we post are recorded at 48 bits and these CD's will be at 192 bit, Just a cleaner sound. The difference is also the size. We try and keep the downloads under 30MB in size while the CDs do not limit the size for audio.
We are just thinking of ways that we can provide a product at a low cost to you to help fund our Nonprofit Mission. We will be building our past shows so if you want a specific one let me know and I'l work on those first.
